On Monday, a suicide bomber breached a high-security compound in Pakistani Mosque and blew himself killing 47 people.
What is the Complete Story?
According to the police, the suicide bomber walked through various high-security barricades and entered the crowded mosque that counters police in the northwestern city of Peshawar.
In the mosque, the attacker blew himself up which left 47 people killed and 176 wounded. Police said it was the latest attack by resurgent Islamist militants targeting police in an unstable country.
The Chief of Peshawar police, Ijaz Khan, stated that it was a suicide bombing that resulted in 47 people killed. According to the officials, the attacker detonated the bomb at the moment when a massive crowd was lined up to say their prayer.
Chief Ijaz Khan said they found traces of explosives from the location. He also added that the attacker had slipped through the most highly secured area of the compound.
The Chief said an inquiry is underway by the police to discover how a suicide bomber breached such a high-security compound. Is there someone inside already who helped the attacker to do so? According to the police, the mosque was gathered with around 400 worshipers.
But most of the people who died in the attack were police officers. The brutality seems like 2022 Shiite Muslim mosque suicide bomb attack in an islamic state during Friday prayers, which left 56 people died.
Witnesses Describing the Complete Situation During Bomb Attack
A witness and victim himself, Mushtaq Khan, a policeman with a head wound, said the attacker was standing in the first row of worshipers. There was a big bang when Allah is the Greatest was being said by the prayer leader.
The policeman also made a statement that they couldn’t figure out as the bomb attack was deafening. He was thrown out of the veranda due to the pressure created by the attack. The wall also fell on him, but he was safe.
The explosion was so massive that it brought down the upper storey of the mosque, killing dozens of worshippers. However, the collapsed rooftop also caught some victims in the wreckage. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the sheer scale of the human tragedy is unimaginable, and it is not less than an attack on Pakistan.
While the pain of the grieving families cannot be described in words, I express my heartfelt condolences & most sincere sympathies. My message to the perpetrators of today's despicable incident is that you can't underestimate the resolve of our people. https://t.co/edUJ6SbP3M
