Only a few hours after arraignment in Miami, former President Donald Trump raised about $2 million at the first fundraiser of his campaign.
What is the Complete Story?
During a candlelight dinner with top donors, the campaign raised around $2.04 million. Former President Trump was seated at a table with several donors and supporters, including Sen Tommy Tuberville.
However, the campaign in which Trump was involved has relied mostly on small dollars, grassroots donors, and fundraisers with a goal of raising around $2 million. It also demonstrated that Trump is still relying on deep-pocketed supporters to fill his campaign requirements.
Moreover, the information has yet to be disclosed regarding how much money Trump raised in the aftermath of his indictment. He decided to make the numbers public following a wave of fundraising pleas from his campaign.
On Tuesday, Trump spent the day in the Miami courthouse, where he pleaded not guilty to federal charges that he illegally kept classified documents and stood in the way of efforts by the government to retrieve them.
In federal charges, Trump has to face 31 felony charges, in which 31 counts of willful retention of national security records and six are creating hurdles in the federal efforts to recover those documents.
What’s Next?
After Trump pleaded not guilty, he returned to his golf club in Bedminster, NJ, with his team of advisors and lawyers. There he addressed a crowd of his supporters, who flew away across the country at the moment to give him a boost.
After the remarks for the rest of the program, donors contributing to Trump’s fundraiser, who paid at least $1000, were ushered inside the Bedminster club. Before Trump, his former acting director of National Intelligence, Ric Grenell, also addressed the crowd.
However, Donald Trump Jr’s fiance, Kimberly Guilfoyle, was also present at the event and had some words with the donors.
