Despite being 63, Dr. Hyman claims that he is living like a 45-year-old man with just adding strength training, smoothies, meditation and cold plunges to his daily morning routine. Hyman opens up about his daily morning routine in his recently written book Young Forever: The Secrets to Living Your Longest, Healthiest Life. 

He said the morning routine could really help people to reduce premature skin ageing and increase health span. 

What is Mark Hyman’s Healthy Morning Routine

Every morning, Hyman wakes up at 6 am and meditates for 20 minutes. He also drinks a cup of coffee. After meditating, Hyman does strength training for 30 minutes.

After completing his strength training, Hyman takes a hot shower. And then immediately, he does a cold plunge in frigid 40 degrees for three minutes. Hyman takes a healthy ageing shake containing chia seeds and berries for breakfast. 

He said the shake is packed with 48 g of protein and healthy fats. However, Mark Hyman claims that the secret of his healthy lifestyle is just strength training and a diet with plant foods and healthy fats. He doesn’t consume any supplements. 

Is Hyman’s Healthy Morning Routine Effective?

According to Hyman, daily weight training can strengthen memory and make us sharper, happier and more resilient. Various studies claim that vigorous exercise is a better antidepressant.

On the other hand, cold plugging helps to improve blood circulation, recovers muscles, reduces pain and improves your mood. And switching from a hot to a cold shower helps to decrease swelling, reduces fatigue, and decreases muscle soreness.

Various studies have proven these benefits. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, daily exercising can improve heart health and reduce your risk for common cancers.

According to Mayo Clinic, meditation decreases stress and improves sleep quality. Not only the morning routine, but Hyman claims a good night is also crucial to live a healthy lifestyle.
