1. Tom Cruise

When Tom Cruise Top Gun Maverick blew up in the theatre, it seemed that he had saved his spot in the Oscar nominations for best actor. But that wasn’t enough for Tom Cruise to be one of the year’s top actors.

Since 1999, Magnolia, Tom Cruise is still waiting for his other nominations for the best actor. However, Top Gun producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, made a statement that the cast of Top Gun, filmmakers, Paramount and every person who worked in the movie were honoured by Tom Cruise’s recognition from the Academy.

2. James Cameron

James Cameron Avatar: The Way of Water succeeded at the former, and even it became the fastest film to cross $1 billion globally in just 14 days. But that wasn’t enough to make Cameron, the king of the Oscar world.

However, somehow he received the best picture nod with three nominations for the crew of technical artisans, and he was ok with that.

3. RRR

RRR may have become Twitter’s favourite action-packed movie, but it failed to become a favourite among the Academy members. After India did not submit the film for the best international movie, some of its great fans, including international hit directors James Cameron and Adam McKay, hoped that the movie could follow the path of best director and picture nod.

But still, the movie didn’t fail to make history by winning the best original song Oscar nomination for Nattu Nattu. The song is literally a breakout musical number that has forced the audience to dance.

4. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift Carolina from Where the Crawdads Sing, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun Maverick have been shortlisted in the best original song category.

But Rihanna and Lady Gaga failed to secure the spot, which also left Taylor Swift stuck at the EGOT standings. Although, Swift is fine with that.

5. Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler

Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler, aka Black Performers, seemed to be absent from the best actor and actress categories. Woman King star Viola Davis who transformed herself into an action hero, and Danielle Deadwyler, who appeared in one of the year’s most memorable scenes, failed to secure the spot in the nominations.
